Timeline

Project Overview

Subvrsive faces the challenge of finding an innovative way to engage future clients visiting the office and demonstrating its creative and technical expertise. The task is to develop an immersive experience that adds value to both clients and the business.

Problem Statement

Brand Wranglers is a tile-flipping and matching game that highlights some of the top brands Subvrsive has collaborated with. It was designed to engage clients visiting Subvrsive HQ by providing an interactive experience through Augmented Reality (AR). The game allows prospective clients to explore our capabilities and see the brands we’ve partnered with, instilling confidence in our expertise and encouraging them to work with us.

Outcomes

How Might We Statement

How might we create an engaging and memorable experience that maximizes value for in-office client visits by showcasing our creative and technical expertise?

Let’s brainstorm!

Research

With the gathered insights and constraints in place, we called for a brainstorming session! At Subvrsive, brainstorming sessions follow the project brief's completion and are designed to generate digital and creative solutions that align with client needs. Participants, selected for their creative and technical expertise, receive a condensed brief and key background information. Facilitators highlight relevant terms, technologies, and past projects to inspire ideas. A 45-minute brainstorming session focuses on generating numerous ideas, which are grouped as they emerge. Afterward, a 10-minute discussion allows participants to share preferences and clarify concepts, followed by a 5-minute voting session to identify the most promising ideas

Let's create an interactive Augmented Reality (AR) experience!

Finalized idea

This digital product will educate and seamlessly blend the physical and digital worlds, offering visiting clients a memorable and immersive adventure.

What thoughts do Subvrsive members have and what are the needs of our clients during in-office visits?

User research

To address this question, my team and I continually referred to it while developing a product informed by research and strategy. We conducted user interviews to uncover client goals, interests, expectations, and needs for in-office visits, allowing us to optimize the user experience to better align with those expectations and needs.

User Interviews

Insights, listening to our partners and experienced members

5 out of 6 interviewees believe clients want an immersive playground where they can learn from our past projects by interacting with available technology.

4 out of 6 Interviewees believe clients want an understanding of Subvrsive, capabilities, technologies, brands that we have worked with and giving them the confidence to work with us.

Let’s make observations of current office visits

Visiting clients are on a tight schedule.

Our office has technology that can be used as demos.

Constraints

Based on our capabilities and timeline, what is feasible?

With the insights we had gathered, we were brimming with ideas. Ready to begin ideating a digital solution, we first had to step back and consider constraints, including our technical capabilities and timeline. These constraints played a crucial role in shaping the upcoming ideation session and influencing the digital solution the team would ultimately decide on.

Areas of the office that clients find interesting can be digitized.

Our aha moment!

An interactive AR matching game

What is Brand Wranglers?

Brand Wranglers is a tile-flipping and matching game that showcases some of the top brands Subvrsive has collaborated with. The experience centers around a 3x3 tile Cowboy Artwork at the Subvrsive HQ entrance. It is designed to provide visiting clients with an interactive way to engage with the office through Augmented Reality (AR), allowing prospective clients to explore our capabilities and the brands we've partnered with, giving them confidence to work with us.

Task flow

Design System

What steps will the user take?

By focusing on the bigger picture and applying UX principles, we developed a user-centric task flow that accounted for both context and usability. This task flow helped the team stay aligned and seamlessly create the initial wireframe.

How does it works?

Tech Approach

By using Niantic’s 8th Wall Studio users will be able to:

  • Run the experience through a wide range of mobile devices without having to download an app

  • Look around and interact with real world objects

  • Receive information about their surroundings

  • Manipulate 3D objects to serve the purpose of the experience

  • Interactivity with other users

Looking back, I would have liked to integrate a progress bar to indicate the number of steps involved in learning the key components of the game before playing it. To illustrate this idea, I created a wireframe showing how I envisioned it would look and function!

Retrospective

Key Principles Moving Forward

During this project, I compiled a few key principles moving forward:

  • How to communicate, collaborate, and secure buy-in for designs by actively involving others in the process. This involves being proactive, communicating effectively, and ensuring that the entire team is aligned and has full visibility into the design process.

  • Utilizing Subvrsive’s extensive design resources and being open to feedback. I took advantage of design critiques, UX team meetings, and the insights of my peers to ensure the quality of my work.
